Hondo Railway is family owned and operated bulk transloading railyard located in Hondo, Texas. Hondo is located just 45 minutes west of San Antonio, Texas off of Hwy. 90. Don Lee, Mark Holland, and Miles Lee take a personal interest in every aspect of Hondo Railway and are available and on location every day in order provide the very best in customer service. Hondo Railway works diligently to build and maintain relationships with each and every one of its customers.

Meet Our Leadership Team

Miles Lee

COO

Miles oversees all of the daily operations of the Hondo Railway Complex and all of the affiliated trans-load companies. Miles has worked for the company since he graduated from Tarleton State University in 1996 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science. Miles was responsible for relocating the business to Hondo in 2006 and developing the infrastructure that is now Hondo Railway. Miles and his wife, Brooke, have two children. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his family.

Don Lee

CEO

Don started the business in 1978 as a small trans-load business to fill a need for sweeteners at Knowlton’s Creamery. In 1980, he sold the milk business and focused his attention to his growing trans-load and rail business. Hondo Railway and its affiliated trans-load companies have expanded to handle sweeteners and many other products. Don has a Bachelor’s Degree from Texas A&M University. Don and his wife Karen have four children. Don enjoys traveling and spending time with his 11 grandchildren.

Mark Holand

Chief Legal Officer and
Chief Financial Officer

Mark started the business in 1978 as a small trans-load business. Mark Holland graduated from George Washington Law School in 1973 with honors. He holds an MBA from the University of Dayton in 1969 and a BS in Accounting from Louisiana Tech in 1967. Mark is also a CPA.

Dale Richter

 Division Manager at
South Texas Liquid Terminal

Prior to going to work for STLT he spent 25 years as VP of Operations for his families’ manufacturing company. Dale is HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) certifies and is well versed in the food safety field. He currently serves as a trustee for the Hondo Independent School District. In his spare time, he and his wife enjoy traveling and supporting their kids in all their extracurricular activities.

Jeff Essenburgh

 Terminal Manager of South Texas Ethanol Terminal

Jeff Essenburgh is the Terminal Manager of South Texas Ethanol (STET). Jeff was in the United States Marine Corps from 1988-1994. He moved in 2006 from Michigan to Texas. He has worked for 14 years in the Beverage and Construction Industry. Jeff has been married for 25 years, he and his wife Tami, have two boys, who both attend Texas A&M University. In his spare time, his enjoys spending time with his family and hunting and fishing.

Randal Steubing

Terminal Manager of Rail Trans-loading Resources

Randal Steubing is the Terminal Manager of Rail Trans-loading Resources (RTR). Randall coordinates with suppliers, carriers, and customers to ensure efficient movement of dry bulk materials from railcars to trucks. Randal has years of experience working with freight and logistics and knows how to maximize volume while maintaining quality. Randal has been an employee of RTR since 2012. In this time, Randal has also assisted several other terminals within the Hondo Rail Complex. Randal holds a Bachelor’s of Science Degree from Tarleton State University.

Scott Steubing

Yard Master

Scott Steubing oversees all rail operations. Scott is responsible for all daily communication with the BNSF and UP railroads. He works daily to organize all movements in and out of the yard by Hondo Railway, BNSF and UP. Scott has worked at Hondo Railway since December of 2009. Scott holds a Master’s Degree in Agriculture from Tarleton State University (1999) and a Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science (1997). Scott enjoys hunting and fishing and spending time with his wife and 4 daughters.
